Our Story

California Storm (formerly Salinas Storm) is a part of the Salinas Girls Fastpitch Inc. (SGF), a non-profit organization located in Salinas, California. Salinas Storm was established in 1992.

Storm was named after Desert Storm and Gold & Blue were chosen as the organization's colors.  Gold & Blue represent the official colors of California.  Gold symbolizes the Gold Rush and Blue represents the Sky.

Storm is made up of 8 teams competing in local and national tournaments in the following association: Premier Girls Fastpitch (PGF). The eight teams are made up of 10 & Under, 12 & Under, 14 & Under, 16 & Under, 18 & Under. SGF has a strong track record of identifying and developing talented young softball players. That experience has led to several of their teams competing very well at the national level, with several young women continuing their softball careers in college.

The adult softball league has grown each year since its inception in Fall of 2010. The league is comprised of 4 seasons, running for 9 weeks at a time, Monday-Thursday each week. A champion and runner-up is crowned in each league: co-ed, men’s and women’s, and a men’s fastpitch league.

Storm hosts approximately 26-30 girls fastpitch and 10-12 baseball tournaments per year. With an average of 20-24 teams per tournament.
